New York Yankees 2009 World Series Parade
Mayor Bloomberg said: “Congratulations to the Yankees as the world championship back to New York where he belongs.” The city is launching a parade on Friday morning for the Yankees from New York to celebrate their 27th World Series title.
The parade will begin on Broadway at Battery Place at 11 am and continue throughout the Uptown business district Canyon of Heroes Chambers Street. There will be a ceremony at City Hall Plaza, where Mayor Michael Bloomberg presented the Yankees with the Keys to the City. The mayor continued saying, “The Yankees have hit the city throughout the year with their come from behind victories and never-say-die attitude.”
The lining of the sidewalks on Friday quoted the tape parade is open to all members of the public. The city installed a big screen near City Hall Park for members of the public to watch the ceremony. The city will make a limited number of tickets available for the public because there is very limited space.
The last ticker tape parade was held in February 2008 and reportedly cost $ 331,000 to the New York Giants after their Super Bowl victory over the Patriots in New England.
MyFoxNY.com will also transmit live video of the victory parade. To read more on this story go to myfoxny.com. Want to go to the parade? Let us know your opinion on this game.
