Katrina Kaif Bothered By Constant Media Glare

MUMBAI: She may have been Google’s most wanted Indian celebrity and one of the top Bollywood actors, Katrina Kaif, but said the constant gaze of the media in her personal life still hurt.

The 25-year-old actor said he hated the time, but has written about given up trying to fight it.

“The thing that bothers me is that the media did not even bother to listen to my version of history. I tried to explain my point several times, but falls on deaf years,” he told Reuters Kaif.

Kaif is no stranger to connections with some of the leading men of Bollywood.

She has recently been linked with actor Ranbir Kapoor, who starred in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ which premiered in theaters last week.

“I’d be lying if I said I did not bother to talk about this, but I’ve noticed that not much can be done about it.

I would like to write about it much, “said Kaif.

Kaif is the most unlikely success story of Bollywood.

If a stranger who spoke with a heavy British accent and imperfect Hindi diction, Kaif has risen to be one of the most sought after actresses in the industry.

“I know what people say about me, but again, preferred to ignore. All are entitled to their opinion,” she said.

Kaif will now be seen in De Priyadarshan of “Dana Dan ‘, a comedy which also stars Akshay Kumar and will be his third release this year.

Katrina Kaif Glowing Green

Katrina Kaif Is In Pain!

Here’s another name to the list of those injured on the sets of Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan. This time it’s Katrina, who injured her back on Tuesday, while shooting with Akshay Kumar. Incidentally, this is the second time she was injured on the film’s sets.

Earlier, it was Sunil Shetty who was hurt after accidentally hitting an iron rod during an underwater sequence. He took nearly six months to recover. In December last year, Katrina had wounded her leg.

Wincing in pain, Katrina said, “It was a typical baarish-mein-bheegi-sari song. And well, I danced over enthusiastically. It’s always disastrous when you bend your back without a preliminary warm-up. Despite knowing this, I foolishly bent my back on Akshay’s (Kumar) arm. And as soon as I did that, I felt something give way. Now, I can hardly move around without experiencing pain.”

Katrina insisted that the shoot mustn’t slow down just because of her. She is more than eager to wrap up the current schedule of De Dana Dan as soon as possible. “I want to go to London to join my family and then we’re all going to Italy for a holiday,” she said excitedly. Laughing off the observation that this is the most accident prone film she’s ever done, Katrina said, “Akshay says De Dana Dan will be a hit because we’ve given our blood for it.”

After doing half-a-dozen films with her including super hits like Namastey London, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng, Akshay Kumar knows everything

Especially that she has delicate health and if kept under water for a few hours, she is bound to fall ill.
The duo are currently singing in the rain at a Mumbai studio for Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan. Akshay, dressed in a thin kurta, and Katrina wrapped in a sexy chiffon sari with a strappy blouse.

But the body heat generated from their steamy togetherness was not enough to keep the actress warm. And Katrina sat in a chair after the first shot, shivering, her teeth chattering, the drenched sari doing nothing to help.

Retakes in the rain followed, one too many, and that’s when Akshay sprang into action. He first ran around the set making sure the air-conditioners were switched off. And then requested Priyan and choreographer Pony Varma to “please look out for Katrina’’ because from past experience, he knew if she stayed wet for too long, she would be down with a fever the next day.
The chivalrous actor then ordered two huge Turkish bath towels, wrapped his heroine in one, himself in the other. “God, he treats me like a baby,’’ muttered Katrina. Something she knew before, but now we know too.

Katrina Kaif Has A French Connection

Katrina Kaif has bid adieu to Sanjay Gadhvi’s 7 days in Paris but her connection with Paris is far from over. In fact, Katrina’s romance with Paris is about to begin. 

She recently saw a French film and was so impressed, that she has not only bought the remaking rights of the film, but is also producing it herself. And that’s besides starring in it, of course.

However, Katrina refuses to tell us the name of the film that has her so enamoured. “It’s a huge hit of 2006”, is all we can get out of her. “I don’t want to name it because then it will immediately be picked up by others and they’ll get down to making their own versions of the film before I have even finalised the deal. I’m very serious about the film and my negotiations are on. And if all goes well, I’ll have the rights with me very soon,” says an excited Katrina.

This film will see Katrina in a different role from the ones she plays in New York, and the upcoming Rajneeti. “My role in the film has dark shades to it. I play a conniving, ambitious woman. It’s a gloriously grey character, the kind I haven’t played before,” says Katrina.

About producing the film, Katrina says, “It is very important for me to find vehicles that will challenge me as an actor. And I am willing to create opportunities for myself.”

While a lot of action awaits the actress, right now she’s only hoping to spend a birthday with family in London, later this month. “I need to be happy with what I’m doing. That’s all I want on this birthday,” she says.

Katrina Kaif Want New Home Due To Lake Of Security

Katrina Kaif, who is currently staying at Waterfield Road in Bandra, is desperately looking for another house because of the lax security in
her building. 

Katrina was more than happy living alone in the house, which she had bought four years ago with her hard-earned money. But of late, she is scared because of the increase in the number of intruders barging into her house.

Katrina confirmed the news and said, “I don’t feel safe any more. I’m a free-spirited working girl and pretty confident about making my way through the concrete jungle. But when strangers reach your door, it’s time to worry because there’s just me and my faithful maid in the house.”

Now the actress wants to urgently move into a place with better security but it is no cakewalk considering her celebrity status. “I’ve looked at a number of places. But the minute they know it’s someone famous, they hike the price. I need to move into a place where I feel safer living alone. No matter what it costs,” said the actress.

She even got herself an additional maid with the intention of beefing up security, but even that didn’t work. “The new maid couldn’t get along with the first maid, so I had to ask her to leave,” added Katrina.

The actress is now looking forward to putting an end to her solitary residency once her sister Isabel joins her in Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. Katrina said, “But that is still some way off. Isabel is still learning acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute. She wants to do Broadway before doing Bollywood. Once she comes to Mumbai, I’ll be fine. Just the two of us in the house together will be fun. I don’t mind living alone except for security reasons.”

Katrina Kaif Says She Will Never Work For Money

Petite star Katrina Kaif said that she will never do a film for money. The 24-year-old actress, whose earnings support her family of seven sisters, said there are times when she feels that she needs the money being offered to do a particular film.

“I am in a panic situation. But, If I succumb to such pressures, I know the audience will not respect me,” Katrina told PTI in an interview.

Looking back at her career, she said she considers her journey so far as a learning experience.

“So far, I went through a learning phase having learnt discipline from my co-stars Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Salman.

They have helped me to strengthen my fundamentals,” she said.

“But if you stagnate, the growth is over. I have done many comedy films. Success of films like ‘Partner’, ‘Singh is

Kinng’ gets you to a very wide audience reach. But for greater gains, you need to take greater gambles. If it works, you get respect and recognition,” the young actress felt.

Katrina is highly optimistic of her upcoming film ‘New York’ releasing on June 26.

“I saw the real me in the film. When I first asked director Kabir Khan about my character, he told me that Maya is like every girl… she is you without make up and costumes.

I realised that he was telling me to be myself in the film,” Katrina recalled.

Katrina Kaif Success Journey From Barnet To Bollywood

Who would believe that Katrina Kaif was rejected as a teenager by London modelling agencies for not being skinny enough, for the girl from Barnet has the whole 1 billion pounds-a-year Hindi film industry at her feet today.

Arriving in India at the age of 17, Katrina could not speak a single Hindi word and didn”t know how to dance-two prerequisites of Indian cinema.

Katrina, who watched her first Bollywood film at the age of 16 on Channel 4, is now one of the biggest A-list stars in India.

And now she is being celebrated globally, as earlier this year, Mattel, the toymaker, said that a forthcoming Bollywood Barbie doll would be modelled on Katrina.

Knowing that she”ll be mobbed if she appears in public in India, Katrina cherishes her relative anonymity in Britain, where she can stroll down Finchley High Street unmolested during her frequent but secret visits to her childhood home.

“My London childhood and my career are two very different things. I don”t like people to make the connection. The little bits you”ll read on the Internet here and there about my London roots, they are the limits of what I”m willing to divulge,” Times Online quoted her as saying.

Born in Hong Kong to a British mother and a now-estranged Kashmiri father, Katrina has six sisters and one brother.

Casablanca, MGM classics, and Charlton Heston epics have been her favourite films since her childhood.

But despite having no exposure to Bollywood flicks, her fair skin, classical features and hourglass figure have proved an instant hit in India, even if her halting Hindi was initially jibed at.

Industry watchers have said that her success has been based on her work ethic as much as her looks.

And, at the moment, she has five films in various states of production.

Her next flick is ”New York”. Set in the US, the film is based on the 9/11 terror attacks.

Katrina said: “New York is going to be a complete departure. No lip synching. No dancing. Whether it’’s going to be a good surprise or a bad surprise – I like to leave those things in the hands of God, and destiny and the audience.

Salman Khan Angry On Neil Nitin For Katrina Kaif

Mumbai: Yet again, hot-headed Salman Khan is angry with one of Katrina’s co-stars! And this time it’s Neil Nitin Mukesh, who’s been warned by Salman to stay away from his woman.

Neil’s regular habit of calling close friends ‘sweetheart’ landed him in trouble after he fondly addressed his ‘New York’ co-star in the same way. A source said, “Recently, Salman had gone to an airport to pick up girlfriend Katrina Kaif. After he picked her up from the airport, he took her phone and suddenly dialed Neil’s number. Like he usually does while attending calls from friends, Neil picked up the phone and said, ‘Hello, sweetheart’. The moment Neil uttered those words, Salman immediately replied, ‘This is not your sweetheart.’ Neil, who was taken aback, instantly realised that it was Salman on the line and not Katrina.”

Reports reveal that Neil didn’t wait to apologise and said, `I am sorry, sir’.

But, of course, Salman didn’t let him off with a simple apology. He strictly told Neil not to call others’ girlfriends ‘sweethearts’. Even though he apologised again, he could not pacify the angry boyfriend.

Well, Neil was wondering what Salman would do next, and would he even allow good friend Kat to speak to him after this. But much to his surprise, Salman didn’t even bother to take it up with Neil, when they later met each other. “Salman met Neil very warmly and also gifted him some Being Human (Salman’s charitable organisation) T-shirts, which Neil often wears,” added the source.
Confirming the news, Neil said, “Yes, this did happen. Katrina is a dear friend. I have become a bigger fan of Salmanbhai after I recently met him. I always address those I love as sweethearts. They (Salman and Katrina) are truly sweethearts.”
