18 Killed In Firing, Blasts In Rawalpindi Mosque

RAWALPINDI: Officials have confirmed ten casualties in firing and blasts hit a mosque close to army headquarters here Friday, reported ARY NEWS.
Many security personnel were also among dead while 45 people were wounded when armed men attacked a mosque, the channel said.
According to details, the attackers entered the Parade Lane Mosque – situated near Qasim Market of Westridge area, soon after Jumma prayers and opened indiscriminate firing on the faithful gathered in the mosque. They also hurled hand grenades, eyewitnesses said.
A suicide bomber also blew himself up during the attack resulting the heavy toll of casualties and injured, it was reported.
Two attackers were killed in retaliation by the security guards deputed at the mosque, the channel reported citing police officials.
Police and army troops arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area soon after the firing while more contingents of law enforcers were summoned at the scene. Helicopters engaged in aerial surveillance were also seen hovering over the incident site as it was feared that few of the attackers have escaped the scene .

Firing At A Vehicle In Islamabad; No CasualtiesISLAMABAD: Two suspected militants on a motorcycle fired at a vehicle in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, on Tuesday but no casualties, police said.

“The attackers fled. There were no casualties,” Ali Asghar, a police official told foreign news agency.

According to some sources, the target was an army vehicle, but government sources denied the attack on a military vehicle in the federal capital.

An Army brigadier general and his driver were killed in a shooting in Islamabad last week.

In J&K BSF Braves Injured In Pak FiringJammu: Add to constant tension in bilateral relations between Islamabad and New Delhi, Pakistani security forces resorted to unprovoked firing – a clear violation of the ceasefire. Two BSF jawans were injured in the incident.

According to reports, the fire started from the Pakistan side of border posts along the international border in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

BSF sources said the machine gun fire wounded two BSF soldiers guarding the border. An intense exchange of fire occurred between the two parties when BSF responded with gunfire.

The firing from across the border continues intermittently, even on Friday morning.

The FSF is trying to determine the origin of time was shot by militants trying to infiltrate into the Indian side, or was the work of Pakistan Rangers.

Senior Army officials have rushed to the scene to assess the situation.

Giving more details about the incident, the Inspector General of BSF Jammu frontier AK Saroli said, “BSF troops came under attack from the other side of the border crossing point along the belt Nikwol Khour in the district around 2030 hours on Thursday. ”

The Army also suspect who opened fire from the Pakistani side could also be a tactic to give covering fire to a small group of militants trying to sneak into the Indian side.

BSF guards about 220 km from the border with Pakistan in the plains of Jammu region, while the army has been deployed along 720 kilometers of the Line of Control (LOC) in the state.

China Opens Fire Along Sikkim Border After LadakhNew Delhi: Amid growing number of cases of Chinese incursions into Indian territory, a report by media said on Tuesday that two ITBP jawans were injured by gunfire from the other side of the Chinese side along of Indo-China border in Sikkim.

However, government sources in New Delhi, told a news channel that Jawan of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has suffered gunshot wounds to the border dismissal that never took place.

A report that appeared today in a leading national newspaper had said that the dismissal took place in an area identified as Kerang, in northern Sikkim. The newspaper said the incident occurred about 15 days ago and has been kept secret.

After the shooting Kerang border personnel held an emergency meeting on August 30, the report claimed.

The incident was confirmed to the newspapers yesterday by a source of superior intelligence.

While the government has refuted the report, officials at the headquarters of ITBP in New Delhi declined to comment on the incident.

If it is confirmed that the incident occurred, it would fire the first case took place along the Indo-China border since the 1996 agreement on bilateral pledges not to fire, no matter what the provocation, as part of confidence building measures.

Analysts believe the latest incident in Beijing’s bid to maintain pressure on the area of 2.1 square kilometers of Finger Tip in northern Sikkim. Last year, a Chinese vehicle had patrolled in this area, going as deep as a mile in Indian Territory.

The Foreign Ministry in Beijing yesterday denied reports of Chinese airspace violations and incursions in border areas. A team of Ministry officials also met with representatives of the Indian media based in Beijing to convey a message that India is the major partner of China and not a rival.

“China poses no threat to India. For us, the most important task is to develop ourselves so that 1.3 million people can lead a good life. I think it is illogical to say that when a country grows stronger, is to intimidate others, “said Sun Weidong, deputy director general of the Asian Department of the Ministry.

“It is in China’s interest to have a prosperous neighbor,” said Sun, adding that “both are developing countries, both need a peaceful environment.
