Keflezighi Nyc Marathon

NEW YORK (AP) – Meb Keflezighi became the first American to win the New York Marathon since 1982.
Keflezighi, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist, won his first major title marathon on Sunday. Born in Eritrea, 34 years old, became a U.S. citizen in 1998.
It was the second in New York in 2004 and third in 2005. Keflezighi, who wore “America in the chest, won in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 15 seconds.
The four-time winner of the Boston Marathon Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya was second. Jaouad Gharib of Morocco finished third and fourth Americans Ryan Hall was. American Alberto Salazar won three straight New York marathon in 1980-82.
Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia was the winner of Women with 41-year-old Ludmila Petrova of Russia, a finalist for the second consecutive year.
