Oprah recently announced her favorite jeans are from the line CJ, by Cookie Johnson, the wife of former L.A. Laker star Magic Johnson. Oprah featured the CJ by Cookie Johnson jeans on her show back in October, but actually wore the jeans on a recent photo shoot for the cover of “O” magazine.
“(CJ jeans are) the perfect jeans for real women with real booties,” said Oprah on her Web site. “For three days straight, I had on the jeans.”
The CJ by Cookie Johnson jean line launched in early 2009. Johnson said, on the Oprah Web site, the secret to the jean is a comfortable denim fabric with stretch. Comfort was a key consideration in all aspects of the CJ by Cookie Johnson jean designs. The waistbands of the jeans are even lined with silk.
The jeans are designed for curvy women and come up higher in the back than most jeans to avoid underwear peaking out the back, but are still cut stylishly low in the front (AKA these are not “mom” jeans).
There are five styles of jeans in the CJ by Cookie Johnson line: Joy (legging style), Faith (straight leg), Boot Cut(the CJ by Cookie Johnson basic style), Truth (high waist and wide leg, best for a dressy look) and Boyfriend (a more relaxed fit).
The Boyfriend cut is Oprah’s favorite style of the CJ by Cookie Johnson jean line and comes in three colors: dark denim, black and gray.
CJ by Cookie Johnson jeans range from $141 to $198 per pair.
According to the Oprah Web site, Johnson set out to create a “hot jean for us girls with curves so we can look just as good as that skinny girl out there” after getting fed up with shopping unsuccessfully for jeans. The CJ by Cookie Johnson jean line was then created and named Oprah’s favorite jean.
